Xbox Live Rewards Transition FAQ

|

Microsoft Rewards is a loyalty program from Microsoft that lets you earn rewards for doing the things you already do like searching the web and buying games and apps.

If you live in the United States, Xbox Live Rewards will soon become Microsoft Rewards. You'll still be rewarded for many of the things you love on Xbox, including your digital game, movie, and TV show purchases, and soon you'll also be rewarded for searching the web with Bing and making other online purchases at the Microsoft Store.

No, your Xbox Live Rewards membership will automatically become a Microsoft Rewards membership in June, 2018. If you are already a member of Microsoft Rewards, your Xbox Live Rewards membership will transition to your existing Microsoft Rewards membership in June, 2018.

If you do not want to join Microsoft Rewards, you must opt-out of Xbox Live Rewards here by June 15, 2018. Please be aware, by participating in Microsoft Rewards, you agree to the program Terms (as defined below) and will receive promotional emails from Microsoft Rewards, which include offers about Microsoft and partner products. Microsoft Rewards is governed by the Microsoft Services Agreement and the Microsoft Privacy Statement (collectively the “Terms”).

If you have any pending Rewards Credits in your Xbox Live Rewards account on May 31, 2018, or if you are expecting your MyVIP deposit for purchases made in May, 2018, Xbox Live Rewards will convert them into your local currency and deposit them in your Microsoft account by June 30, 2018. You will then have 1 year to spend that currency on digital items from the Microsoft Store.

If Xbox Live Rewards is unable to deposit into your account for some reason, as long as you have not opted out to make the transition to Microsoft Rewards, any undeposited Xbox Live Rewards Credits and unredeemed MyVIP Gems will be automatically converted to Microsoft Rewards points and be added to your Microsoft Rewards account to redeem for whatever you choose from the Microsoft Rewards catalog. See the next question for when to expect your Rewards Credits and MyVIP Gems if you have opted-out of making the transition to Microsoft Rewards.

Once you opt-out, you will immediately stop earning Xbox Live Rewards Credits. Xbox Live Rewards members who choose to opt-out of the program rather than make the transition to Microsoft Rewards will not forfeit any pending Xbox Live Rewards Credits in their account. Instead, your remaining Rewards Credits and MyVIP Gems balance will be deposited into your Microsoft account in the form of your local currency. You will then have one (1) year to spend that currency on digital items from the Microsoft Store or any other successor store.

If we are unable to make this final deposit to your Microsoft account for some reason and you have opted-out of the program, we will follow up with you directly to fulfill your undeposited credits. You can also reach out to us on our support forum.

You’ll have until May 31, 2018 to earn MyVIP Gems and unlock any new MyVIP Perks. You’ll then have until June 15, 2018 to claim any open MyVIP Perks and to redeem any unused MyVIP Gems in your Xbox Live Rewards account for prizes from the MyVIP Vault. After this date any unredeemed MyVIP Gems will be converted to Microsoft Rewards points and can be used to redeem rewards from the Microsoft Rewards catalog once your membership is transitioned. One MyVIP Gem will convert to one Microsoft Rewards point.

Similar to Xbox Live Rewards, Microsoft Rewards will offer punch cards, surveys, and more, plus featured offers on games, movies, and TV shows, but the way you access these offers and how you’re able to use your earned points is changing. In addition, you’ll also have the opportunity to earn bonus points on online purchases made at the Microsoft Store. Read the rest of the FAQ to learn more about other changes you can expect between Xbox Live Rewards and Microsoft Rewards.

One Microsoft Rewards point is equal to one Xbox Live Rewards Credit. Microsoft Rewards points can be redeemed whenever you want for the rewards you choose from the Microsoft Rewards catalog, including Microsoft Store digital gift cards. Xbox Live Rewards Credits are automatically converted to your local currency every two weeks and deposited in your Microsoft account, while MyVIP Gems could be redeemed for items in the MyVIP Vault.

No. Microsoft Points were retired several years ago and are unrelated to Microsoft Rewards. Microsoft Rewards points have the same value as Xbox Live Rewards Credits.

You can redeem your points for Microsoft Store digital gift cards, Skype Credits, Xbox Live Gold memberships, sweepstakes, charitable donations, and more.
